On April 7th, the presentation of the BeOneSec Cybersecurity and Cyberintelligence Chair was held at the Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville. This is a key initiative that seeks to bring the professional practice of the cybersecurity sector closer to university students and researchers in related fields.

Thus, on this day, students from various disciplines and specialized teachers came together with the clear objective of understanding how cyberintelligence is transforming digital security, led by the CEO of BeOneSec Fernando Ramos.

Boosting public-private collaboration

The session began with the intervention of the director of the Higher Technical School of Engineering, Andrés Sáez Pérez, who highlighted the strategic role of collaborations between public universities and private companies.

As he himself mentioned, this type of alliance not only enriches academic training, but also opens new professional doors for future talents in the sector.

The evolution of intelligence as a defense tool

One of the most inspiring moments came from Fernando Ramos, CEO of BeOneSec, who gave a presentation on the role of intelligence throughout history, up to the current cyber attacks.

Thus, through real cases experienced firsthand by the BeOneSec team, it was shown how attacks can go far beyond the digital realm. One of the most striking examples shared on this occasion was the leak of an airline ticket for a VIP profile, located in dark web channels. Through a cyberintelligence analysis, the BeOneSec team identified the origin of the incident, an internal leak due to a human error in travel management. This case demonstrated how cyberintelligence allows us to track, understand and contain threats even before they materialize.

This and other practical cases impacted both students and teachers, who discovered a new dimension of the cybersecurity sector.

Scholarships, courses and real opportunities for young talent

During this event, Rafael Estepa, director of the BeOneSec Cybersecurity and Cyberintelligence Chair, also shared the first activities already underway in this 2024/2025 academic year. And he did so with a clear invitation to participate and take advantage of these opportunities.

Among the activities that have been launched, we find the following.

Two research scholarships.

These are aimed at students interested in delving deeper into the field of applied cybersecurity. These scholarships will last 6 months on a part-time basis and will provide training for these students under the guidance of researchers from the Department of Telematic Engineering and professionals from BeOneSec. Details of both scholarships and the application process can be found here.

Micro-credential on the DarkNet.

This training aims to provide students with a deep and structured understanding of how the main dark networks (DarkNets) work, such as Tor, Freenet, and I2P. All details and registration for the course can be found here.

The future of cybersecurity belongs to young talent

The event ended with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a round of questions that showed the general interest that the cybersecurity sector arouses among young people. The BeOneSec Chair in Cybersecurity and Cyber Intelligence is being consolidated, not only as a meeting point between the public university and private enterprise, but above all as a launch pad for those who wish to build a solid professional future in cybersecurity.
