Seville, a 14 de octubre de 2025 – Cybersecurity stands as one of the great challenges of both the present and the future. In a context where threats evolve daily, collaboration between universities and the private sector becomes an essential driver to anticipate risks, generate innovation, and train the professionals who will lead the cybersecurity of critical infrastructures and strategic sectors.
In this regard, the BeOneSec Chair of Cybersecurity and Cyberintelligence, in collaboration with the University of Seville, has completed its first research scholarship program, which has allowed two students from the Higher Technical School of Engineering at the University of Seville to bring theory into the real world and face the challenges of cybersecurity.
Young Talent Making a Difference
For the students, as they themselves explain, the experience has meant much more than just a scholarship.
“Every day brought a new challenge. Tools, architecture models, process automation… All of this has allowed me to grow continuously and see how university theory connects naturally with real-world cybersecurity practice,” says Alberto Socas, who describes this opportunity as “a true turning point in my professional career”.
His colleague, Alejandro Moreno, highlights the chance to“aprender cómo es el día a día en este sector y profundizar en áreas más específicas de la ciberseguridad”. Among his greatest takeaways, he emphasizes adaptability: “Working in a real-world environment forces you to respond to constant challenges. I’m sure this experience will mark a before and after in my career”.
The University as a Bridge Between Knowledge and Reality
For Rafael Estepa, Director of the Chair and Professor at the University of Seville’s Department of Telematics Engineering, these initiatives represent a decisive step toward positioning the university at the forefront of innovation.
“In academia, the lack of access to real data is one of the main limitations when aiming for solid results. Companies, on the other hand, possess that data and face unknown malware attacks on a daily basis. This collaboration allows us to bring together the best of both worlds: scientific rigor and direct exposure to real problems”.
Rafael Estepa also notes that the Chair’s efforts go beyond scholarships: “We conduct seminars as part of continuing education programs, lectures within Telecommunications Engineering courses, and a dedicated cyberintelligence seminar in the Master’s in Cybersecurity program. We incentivize the best academic works and promote knowledge transfer. It’s a comprehensive approach that strengthens student training and ensures that university research has a direct impact on the sector”.
BeOneSec: Committed to Innovation and the Future of Cybersecurity
For Fernando Ramos, Co-founder and CEO of BeOneSec, the creation of this Chair — and specifically its research scholarships — stems from the conviction that the future of cybersecurity cannot be improvised; it must be built today with vision, resources, and talent.
“Cybersecurity is not just a technological issue; it’s also a commitment to the continuity of critical infrastructures and the trust of society. Training talent in this field means reinforcing the foundations upon which our society relies”, says Fernando.
He also emphasizes the importance of research as a catalyst for innovation: “If we want to offer the best solutions to the market, we must invest in research. Only then can we anticipate unknown threats, develop innovative technologies, and ensure that every solution we deliver meets today’s and tomorrow’s challenges”.
A Formula for Shared Success
The BeOneSec Chair of Cybersecurity and Cyberintelligence, together with the University of Seville, stands as a model of public-private collaboration capable of transforming education, accelerating innovation, and strengthening cybersecurity.
A formula for shared success that prepares students for the future, guides the university toward applied research, and enables industry to anticipate cybersecurity challenges.
