Abstract:

The aim of this paper is to identify the main drivers of CO2 emissions in Spain, using a Structural decomposition analysis (SDA) from an extended Input-Output Model. Paper derives some recommendations aimed at meeting the decoupling between economic growth and CO2 emissions without damaging competitiveness. Data came from World Input-Output Database (WIOD), a free database which offers relevant data for the period 1995-2009. Results will support political decisions related with CO2 emissions and would be interesting for policy makers, shareholders of companies affected and also stakeholders
